Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable stories such as arm control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
